The third phase of the Laem Chabang port expansion is expected to commence soon, subject to the approval of its environmental health impact assessment study by the Environmental Impact Evaluation Bureau. The estimated cost of the project is THB 140 billion. Construction of the expansion is expected to commence by early 2019 and be completed within five years. The expansion will increase handling capacity of the port by 7 million TEUs to 18 million TEUs.
