Meanwhile, Petronas has selected MITC Consortium – a consortium of Japanese and Dutch companies (MODEC, Inc., IHI Corporation, Toyo Engineering Corporation, and CB&I Nederland B.V.) – to create the front-end engineering design (FEED) of its proposed second floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) unit. The FEED will include the basic design of a natural gas liquefaction system, a pre-cooling system, a purpose-designed hull, living quarters, a mooring system, an LNG storage tank, and an LNG offloading system. It will also involve the estimation of the EPC, installation, and commissioning costs of the project. The FEED for the unit is expected to be completed by mid-2014. The unit is designed to produce 1.5 million tonnes per annum of LNG at offshore Sabah.
