Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas), the national oil company, has issued a front-end engineering and design (FEED) tender for a third floating LNG (FLNG) plant in Malaysia. Bids are due in August 2021. The FEED study is scheduled to commence before the end of 2021. A final investment decision (FID) on the PFLNG Tiga unit will be made during the second half of 2022.
PFLNG Tiga will be located near-shore in the eastern state of Sabah. Once operational, it will have an annual capacity of nearly 2 million metric tonne of LNG production.
