Malaysian state-owned oil company Petronas has awarded the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) turnkey contract to Japan-based JGC Corporation for the LNG Train 9 project at the Bintulu LNG Complex in Sarawak. The contract that is valued at $2 billion is expected to be fulfilled by end-2015. The Bintulu LNG complex that comprises three LNG projects, Satu (MLNG1), Dua (MLNG2), and Tiga (MLNG3), possesses a total capacity of 25.7 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) from the eight trains under operation. It provides LNG mainly to Asian countries. The additional train, Train 9, will have a capacity of about 3.6 mtpa.
