State-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina is planning to expand its business into the electricity sector by constructing new power plants across the nation. The company is looking to expand in the sector as an independent power company with the capability to deliver up to 5 GW to state-owned electricity company Perusahaan Listrik Negara. The company is also aiming to construct three plants in East Java’s industrial estate with an overall construction period of three years. Most plants will be gas fuelled, though the company is also planning to build one biogas-fuelled plant at a cost of $180 million in West Java.
