At the same time, Pertamina has been acquiring oil and gas blocks, both overseas and at home, aggressively. In December 2012, it purchased the Algerian unit of ConocoPhillips for $1.75 billion, as well as three Indonesian units of a US-listed oil firm, Anadarko Petroleum Corporation. It also plans to obtain a 95.03 per cent stake in engineering and construction firm PT Rekayasa Industri from Pupuk Indonesia Holding Company and PT Pupuk Kaltim. Finally, Pertamina also signed an MoU with Mitsubishi Corporation to construct a petrochemical facility in Indonesia.
