State-owned port service company PT Pelabuhan Indonesia III (Pelindo III) has revealed its plan to build a monorail that will connect the Lamong Bay container terminal with Tanjung Perak port in Surabaya. The project is considered to be the solution for alleviating the frequent congestion in and around the container depot and Tanjung Perak port. Pelindo III will work with construction company Adhi Karya on the project that is worth 2 trillion rupiah. The feasibility study will be conducted by the Technology Assessment and Application Agency. The project that is expected to take off in early 2014 should take up to two years to complete, based on estimates.
