The Philippine Chamber of Telecommunications Operators (PCTO) has raised concerns over the proposed Konektadong Pinoy bill, arguing that certain provisions could negatively affect the telecom industry. While supporting efforts to improve internet access, the PCTO warned that the bill undermines fair competition, disregards constitutional provisions, and could discourage investment. The group urged lawmakers to revise the bill to ensure it benefits all stakeholders.

The PCTO also criticised the bill for duplicating existing regulations under the Amended Public Service Act (RA 11659), leading to potential regulatory confusion. It opposed the inclusion of spectrum management provisions, arguing that they fall outside the bill’s intended scope. Additionally, the group warned that exempting data transmission providers from franchise and certification requirements could weaken oversight, create unfair competition, and pose security risks. The PCTO called for further consultations to address these issues before the bill advances.
