In line with the changes made to the city-state’s immigration law of Singapore, passengers will be able to depart from Changi Airport without a passport in 2024. This will allow for end-to-end biometric clearance.
By mid-2024, biometrics will be used for authentication in the departure process which includes bag-drop to immigration and boarding. This will lead to a reduction in the presentation of the travel documents by the passengers at various touchpoints, making the process more seamless and convenient.
Additionally, works are underway for a fifth airport terminal and the high-speed rail (HSR) connecting to Johor in Malaysia is expected to commence operations in a few years.
