SMRT Corporation has commenced passenger operations on Stage 4 of the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL4), adding seven new MRT stations to Singapore’s rail network. The 10.8-km-long section will feature stations at Tanjong Rhu, Katong Park, Tanjong Katong, Marine Parade, Marine Terrace, Siglap and Bayshore.
With the opening, around 235,000 households in Singapore are within a 10-minute walk of an existing TEL station
Currently, around 27 out of 32 TEL stations are operational. The fifth stage of TEL (TEL5), connecting Bayshore and Sungei Bedok, will be completed by 2026. Plans are also underway to build an extension to Changi Airport which will be completed in the mid-2030s.
