The long-abandoned Jakarta monorail project has received a new lease life, thanks to a cash infusion of $238 million from Ortus Holdings, an investment firm. The project has two proposed lines: the Green Line that stretches for 14.3 km from Komdak to the Satria Mandala Museum in South Jakarta, which will have 16 stations; and the Blue Line that extends for 9.7 km from Kampung Melayu in East Jakarta to Roxy in West Jakarta, which will have 11 stations. The projects are estimated to cost $725.6 million (MMK 613.81 billion). Ortus’s shareholding in the project has yet to be determined, with the company set to either purchase new shares or buy existing shares from shareholders.
