Nuevo Solar Energy Corporation (NSEC) has commenced operations on a 68 MWac solar project in Ilocos Norte, Philippines. Renewable energy (RE) generated from the Garcia 2 facility will be supplied to MPower, a unit of the Manila Electric Company (Meralco).

The solar project will be key in achieving a 35 per cent share of RE in the country’s total power mix.

NSEC is a joint venture (JV) company comprising MGen Renewable Energy Incorporated and Vena Energy. MGreen has plans to develop 1,500 MW of RE projects in the Philippines, all of which will come online over the next five years.
