Obayashi Corporation has won the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for the 290 MW Nam Ngiep 1 hydropower project (HPP). The lead sponsors of the project are KPIC Netherlands B.V., Thailand-based EGAT International Company Limited, and Lao Holding State Enterprise. The main dam is 148 metres high and 530 metres long. Obayashi Corporation will also undertake the construction work for the power station and access roads. The power plant is scheduled to be commissioned in January 2019.
