The National Rail Centre of Excellence (NRCOE) has been appointed as the coordinating body to develop Malaysia’s rail industry in line with the pre-set guidelines and standards. The NRCOE will be responsible for raising the competency and marketability of the sector, as well as increasing local content to at least 45 per cent by 2030.

The implementation of the local rail industry development programme is in line with the country’s long-term development goals, including reducing Malaysia’s reliance on foreign original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and suppliers while promoting local collaboration with OEMs for international markets.

The Government of Malaysia, led by the NRCOE, will ensure that the growth of the local rail sector meets worldwide standards in order to accomplish the industry’s development goals.
