The Airports Corporation of Vietnam has inaugurated the recently expanded Terminal 1 of the Noi Bai International Airport. The expansion work that involved the construction of five departure and two arrival gates covered a total area of 25,000 square metres. The total cost stands at 500 billion dong. Terminal 1 was inaugurated back in 2001 to handle 6 million passengers per year. Expansion was needed, as passenger traffic at the terminal has doubled in recent times.
