Transmission firm National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has sought the approval of the Energy Regulatory Commission’s provisional authority for the PhP 424.365 million Cebu–Mandaue–Lapu-Lapu 138 kV transmission upgrade project in order to avoid curtailments that may result from the overloading of the lines. The project will cover the upgrades of the Cebu–Mandaue and Mandaue–Lapu-Lapu lines which transmit power to the load centre of the Visayas grid. The NGCP aims to commence pre-construction activities before end-2013; thus, the targeted completion in 2015 can be achieved.
