The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has announced the complete activation of the Mindanao-Visayas Interconnection Project (MVIP) in the Philippines. The MVIP contains an184-circuit-km (ckm) High-Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) submarine transmission line, connecting the grids of Mindanao and Visayas, and transferring a capacity of 450 MW, reaching up to 900 MW.

The project also includes converter stations in both regions and more than 500 km of overhead wires to improve the transmission of energy. The project commenced operation in April 2023 and it transmitted an initial load of 22.5 MW from Mindanao to Visayas.
