Three large solar PV projects have been commissioned recently in Vietnam, adding 529 MW of solar capacity to the country. In late June 2019, a JV of the Truong Thanh Vietnam Group and B.Grim (Thailand) inaugurated the 257 MWp Hoa Hoi solar PV plant worth VND 4,985 billion in Phu Yen province.

In addition, Sunseap International (Singapore) and InfraCo Asia have commissioned a 168 MW solar PV project in Ninh Thuan province. The project will sell power under a 20-year solar PPA signed in 2018. Finally, the Sao Mai Group has commissioned the 104 MWp Sao Mai Solar PV1 plant worth VND 6,000 billion in Tinh Bien district. The second phase with capacity of 106 MWp is expected to be commissioned before the end of the year.

According to national power group Vietnam Electricity, 82 solar PV plants with a combined capacity of 4,460 MW were connected to the national grid as of June 30, 2019.
