Twenty-seven Filipino and Dutch organisations have launched the Philippines–Netherlands Sustainable Water Infrastructure Network (PH-NL Sustainable WIN), a collaborative platform aimed at promoting sustainable, climate-resilient and ESG-aligned water infrastructure development in the Philippines. The initiative was formally introduced on May 26, 2026, during the 2nd King’s Day Forum organised by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the Philippines.
The network brings together stakeholders from government, industry, civil society, academia and development institutions to support the integration of environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles into water and water-related infrastructure planning, financing and implementation. Designed as a community of practice, the platform will facilitate knowledge exchange, policy dialogue, innovation and project collaboration while promoting climate resilience, stakeholder engagement and sustainable governance practices. Discussions during the forum focused on ecosystem-based planning, water security, governance reform and inclusive community participation.
The initiative forms part of broader cooperation between the Philippines and the Netherlands in water management, climate adaptation and sustainable development and coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2026. The network will operate under a collaborative framework inspired by the Dutch Diamond Approach, strengthening partnerships among government, private sector, academia and civil society while leveraging expertise from both countries in sustainable water governance and infrastructure development.
