New Energy Asia Sdn Bhd, a joint venture between Malaysia’s DRB-HICOM and China’s Hangzhou Flash Charging, has launched a range of high-speed electric vehicle (EV) chargers and energy storage systems for Malaysia and the broader ASEAN market. The lineup includes the 450 kW liquid-cooled Lotus-branded DC charger, capable of charging the Lotus Emeya from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in just 14 minutes, along with AC and DC chargers ranging from 7 kW to 450 kW. These products are designed to meet a wide spectrum of charging needs, from homes to commercial sites.
The JV, which has exclusive distribution rights for Lotus-branded chargers in ASEAN, plans to expand in phases—starting with Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand. It also aims to support Malaysia’s energy transition goals through local manufacturing, SME engagement, and technology transfer. The company’s infrastructure is already partially deployed, and its systems are CE and CB certified, with local certifications underway. Advanced features include remote diagnostics, mobile app integration, and broad EV compatibility.
