The Philippines has appointed Nestor Espenilla, Jr., as the new central bank (Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas) governor, replacing former governor Amando Tetangco Jr.

Prior to this, Espenilla was serving as deputy governor, supervision and examination sector, and was responsible for overseeing banks and other financial institutions. Overall, Espenilla has spent over 36 years with the bank and has served in various committees including the Advisory Committee on Monetary Policy; Financial Stability Committee; and Inclusive Finance Steering Committee.
