Thailand’s National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) will auction 4G spectrum in the 1800 MHz and 900 MHz bands by September 2015. The telecom regulator’s original plan to auction 4G spectrum in 2014 was stalled following the imposition of military rule in June 2014. NBTC will revise all auction details for both bands in January 2015 and draw up a new schedule for the auction in July 2015. The reserve bid prices may be increased to reflect changing economic conditions. Currently, True Corporation and AIS subsidiary Digital Phone are offering services using spectrum in the 1800 MHz band even though the concessions expired in September 2014.
