Thailand’s National Broadcasting & Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has issued details of its plan to auction additional 4G licences. The auction will take place in three phases till September 2015. Under the auction, NBTC will put up for sale 92.5 MHz of spectrum in the 900 MHz and 1800 MHz bands, which is currently used by private operators under the build-transfer-operate licences that will expire in the near future. In the first phase, 25 MHz of spectrum in the 1800 MHz band, currently used by True Move and DPC, will be auctioned in March 2014. In the second phase, 17.5 MHz of spectrum in the 900 MHz band, which is currently used by AIS, will be auctioned in November 2014. In the third phase, 50 MHz of spectrum in the 1800 MHz band, currently being partly used by DTAC, will be auctioned in September 2015.
