According to reports, construction works on the $143 million project to renovate the country’s creaking railway system, which already has massive cost and time overruns, has been postponed indefinitely, primarily due to a lack of funds. The project was suspended in mid-2013. At this juncture, there is no prospect of additional funds from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) or the Australian government – the project’s two main financiers.
