The Nam Chien 1 hydroelectric plant in Muong La, with an annual capacity of 814 million kWh, has started to generate power. Of the two turbines, only one turbine has been commissioned, while the other is expected to be commissioned by end-February 2013. Construction work that began in 2005 was completed at an investment of 6.4 trillion dong. The Song Da Corporation contributed 55 per cent of the total cost. The project was developed on a build-operate-transfer (BOT) basis.
