Myanmar’s Ministry of Electricity and Energy plans to construct over 1,000 MW power stations and 500 kV lines across the country to supply uninterrupted electricity by mid-2020. The utility plans to construct a 500 kV line connecting Meiktila, Taungoo, Bayargyi and Yangon cities, which will form the main backbone connecting the northern, southern, eastern and western grids of the country. Once constructed, the ministry will be able to supply electricity anywhere in Myanmar using the national grid.
