MNTC has announced plans to install a network of 5,000 base stations before it commences service in early 2018. MNTC is a JV between Viettel, the Star High Public Company and Myanmar National Telecom Holding. Of these, Viettel has announced plans to invest $2 billion in infrastructure, most of which will be in the construction of base stations. The company has further announced plans to develop 5,000 additional stations to cover 90 per cent of the domestic population as it targets a 25 per cent share of the market by 2021.
