Myanmar-based wireless provider Myanmar Posts and Telecommunications (MPT) has upgraded its tower network infrastructure in the remote area of Putao, located in Kachin state in north Myanmar. The network upgrades include switching from a satellite-based to a microwave-based system, with additional towers installed to allow faster 2G and 3G connectivity and stronger call reception in the region. MPT is the country’s first operator to have deployed an LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) mobile network in June 2017.
