Finland-based Valmet Oyj has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with MEDCO Group to develop biomass-based power solutions in Indonesia.

Under this partnership, Medco Group will develop a 10 MW biomass power plant (PLTBm) in Papua. The biomass will be sourced from wood chips and agricultural waste. This will reduce the use of diesel oil by 15 million litres annually. Additionally, Valmet will provide energy-efficient modular solutions using its BioPower technology. Moreover, the modular design will be easily installed in remote areas in Indonesia.

This development is in line with the MoU signed between the Governments of Indonesia and Finland to boost cooperation in sustainable, clean and renewable energy (RE) and energy efficiency.
