Malakoff Corporation Bhd and Koperasi Polis Diraja Malaysia Bhd (KPDRM) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to undertake a feasibility study to assess the commercial viability of deploying rooftop solar projects in Malaysia. Solar systems will be installed at various Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) buildings throughout the country.

The agreement is based on the Net Energy Metering 3.0 scheme, under which electricity generated from solar energy will be sold to PDRM, through a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA). The power generated by these projects will have a lower tariff than the electricity generated by the national grid, leading to cost-savings.

By 2025, renewable energy (RE) is estimated to account for 31 per cent of Malaysia’s capacity mix.
