Mitratel has partnered with AALTO HAPS to explore commercial High Altitude Platform Station (HAPS) connectivity solutions in Indonesia. The collaboration is centered around the Zephyr solar-powered HAPS, a platform capable of delivering 5G cellular connectivity and enhancing earth observation capabilities from the stratosphere.

Mitratel, with its network of over 38,000 towers and more than 37,000 km of fibre optic cables, aims to leverage this partnership to address the geographical challenges of expanding internet access in Indonesia, particularly in the 3T areas (outermost, most remote, and most disadvantaged regions). The Zephyr platform, which can operate for extended periods, offers low-latency connectivity to hard-to-reach locations.
