The Ministry of Transport has stipulated new rules for the airline sector. It has established a minimum capital requirement of 300 billion dong for airlines having less than 10 aircraft to set up a commercial airline. The minimum capital has been set at 700 billion dong for airlines applying for international routes. Further, carriers with 11–30 aircraft will need to have 1 trillion dong for international routes, while 600 billion dong will be required for domestic routes. Finally, for airlines owning more than 30 aircraft, a minimum capital of 1.3 trillion dong for international routes and 700 billion dong for domestic routes will be expected. The ministry has also directed local airlines to improve in-flight services and customer service at airports.
