The Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) has signed an initial agreement with Abu Dhabi Future Energy (Masdar) to jointly develop 10 GW of renewable energy (RE) capacity in Malaysia by 2025. An investment of around USD8 billion will be needed for these projects.
The Government of Malaysia aims to achieve 12.9 GW RE capacity by 2025 and 18 GW by 2035. Additionally, the government aims to have 70 per cent RE capacity by 2050.
