In October 2012, Michael Chia was appointed as the new managing director (MD), marine, Keppel Offshore & Marine (O&M) Limited, the Singapore-based oil rig builder, following the demise of the company’s former marine MD, Nelson Yeo.
A veteran in the offshore and marine industry for more than 30 years, he has held various appointments within the Keppel Group. In his current capacity, Chia will be spearheading Keppel O&M’s marine division which includes Keppel Shipyard, Keppel Singmarine, and other overseas yards.
In addition to his present role, Chia will continue to maintain his other current positions as MD (technology), Keppel O&M; and MD, Keppel O&M Technology Centre. He is also director, (Group Strategy and Development) of Keppel Corporation, the parent of Keppel O&M.
