Mastercard has announced its participation in the launch of Google Pay in the Philippines, enabling Mastercard cardholders to make contactless, in-app, and online payments using eligible Android devices. The rollout is supported by Mastercard’s tokenisation technology, which replaces sensitive card information with device-bound digital tokens to enhance payment security.

Google Pay will initially be available to Chinabank Mastercard Credit Card, EastWest Bank Mastercard Credit Card, GCash (Tap to Pay), RCBC Mastercard Credit Card, and Zed Mastercard Credit Card users. Additional issuers are expected to join soon. Cardholders can add their eligible cards through the Google Wallet app and make payments at NFC-enabled terminals or select Google Pay at online checkout.

The initiative aligns with Mastercard’s goal to advance secure digital payments and support nationwide contactless adoption. Both Google and Mastercard highlighted the role of the launch in strengthening the Philippines’ digital payments ecosystem and expanding access to secure, tokenised transactions across consumers and merchants.
