PT MRT Jakarta has partnered with Mastercard to enhance cashless transportation in Indonesia. The collaboration will allow passengers to purchase or top up their contactless smartcards using Mastercard debit cards instead of cash. Additionally, the passengers can also purchase tickets using a Mastercard credit card via the MyMRTJ app.
As of November 2023, the average daily ridership on MRT Jakarta has reached 100,000. Currently, the MRT Phase 2 construction project is underway and once completed, is expected to have a daily ridership of 290,000 passengers.
