Mastercard has partnered with Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railways Company Limited (HURC1) to introduce cashless payments on the city’s public transport system, including the newly launched Metro Line No. 01, Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien. This collaboration is a significant milestone in Vietnam’s push toward a cashless society and digital transformation. The initiative enables commuters to use physical cards or devices to make seamless, secure payments at all 14 stations along the metro line.
With the installation of over 270 advanced point-of-sale terminals, passengers can now enjoy the convenience of cashless transactions, contributing to reduced congestion and improved air quality. Mastercard’s open-loop payment system is the first of its kind in the city, enhancing the urban mobility experience and fostering a smarter, more sustainable future for Ho Chi Minh City and beyond.
