The Malaysia Automotive Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii) and the Malay Vehicle Importers and Traders Association of Malaysia (Pekema) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to speed up the development of electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure in the country. The parties agreed to work together to install 1000 EV charging stations equipped with DC quick chargers across Malaysia by 2025. They will also collaborate on charging ecosystem connective applications like as e-payment, charger locators and battery management systems.

The development activities will be managed by an EV Centre of Excellence (COE) that will be created as part of this collaboration to provide a unified and integrated charging environment that meets the needs of future e-mobility users. The COE will also serve as a catalyst for after-sales service support, as well as training, repairs, warranties, consultation, communication, marketing, and the coordination of strategic alliances in the field of EVs.
