The Malolos-Clark Railway Project (MCRP) has been delayed by a year till June 2025 due to site turnover and payment issues. This section of the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) was initially scheduled to commence passenger operations in 2024.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is facing delays in handing over the 36-hectare site for the Clark depot to POSCO Engineering and Construction Company Limited (POSCO), the project contractor, as well as a five-month delay in payments under Package N-05. The agency expects to settle its dues in February 2023.
As of January 2023, more than 33 per cent of construction has been completed. The 53-km-long Malolos-Clark line is part of the 147-km-long NSCR between Clark to Calamba.
