Malaysia’s Pestech Sendirian Berhad has won a turnkey contract worth 226.3 billion kip from Laos’ state-owned power company Electricite du Laos for the construction of a 40 km long, 115 kV double-circuit transmission line in the southern Lao province of Champassak. Under the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract, Pestech will develop the line that will connect the Bang Yor substation in Pakxe district to the Lao–Thai border. The link will be used to exchange electricity between Laos and Thailand. Construction on the line that is expected to begin in December 2013 should be completed in 18 months. The line project will be funded by a Malaysian loan.
