Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd, Maxis Bhd and Celcom Axiata Bhd have jointly signed an agreement to develop and share fibre infrastructure in Malaysia, which will be effective for 20 years.

This agreement is in continuation of the previous memorandum of understanding (MoU) to leverage each other’s resources to deploy a wider and effective fibre network. The main aim is to avoid duplication of fibre infrastructure in the country. The companies will work on enhancing mutual swapping arrangements. The planning for the project is already underway.

This collaboration will allow the telecom industry to support new 5G sites and also support higher internet traffic.
