The Malaysian government has announced the dissolution of the Suruhanjaya Pengangkutan Awam Darat (SPAD)/Land Public Transport Commission, the central authority for public transport in Malaysia. The Ministry of Transport will take over the operations of SPAD.

SPAD was established in 2010 and was responsible for drafting public transport policies and plans to develop comprehensive, integrated and sustainable infrastructure as well as for the regulation of performance standards of transport operators through licensing.
