The Malaysian government is likely to build a third light rail transit (LRT) line spanning 20–30 km from Kelana Jaya to Port Klang. The estimated cost of the project will fall within the RM 5 billion–6 billion range. The line that will start from the LRT station in Kelana Jaya will head towards Shah Alam Stadium and pass through Klang, before terminating at Port Klang, thus linking it to the KTM commuter station. The tender is expected to be issued in 2014, after proper due diligence by the Land Public Transport Commission is completed. Moreover, it will be an open tender such that companies with existing contracts for the Kelana Jaya and Ampang LRT line extension projects will also be allowed to bid. Currently, the Malaysian government is also extending the Ampang and Kelana Jaya LRT lines under a RM 7 billion plan. The two extensions comprise a total of 34 km; the majority of the contracts for the jobs have already been awarded.
