According to Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB), airports in the country recorded 83.3 million passenger movements in 2014. According to Malaysia Airports Holding’s Passenger Traffic Snapshot filed at Bursa Malaysia, the first four months of 2014 saw an average year-on-year growth of 17 per cent, but experienced an average decline of 0.4 per cent for the next eight months after the MH370 incident. The traffic data revealed that in December passenger movement reported a growth of 0.3 per cent year on year with 8.2 million passengers using aviation services in the month. Further, the average load factor of 76.5 per cent in December was the highest recorded for a month in 2014. During the year under review, international passenger traffic rose by 4.9 per cent, while domestic movement increased by 4.5 per cent. In 2014, aircraft movement recorded a growth of 7.3 per cent while cargo movement grew by 8 per cent, registering a volume of 1.01 mt.
