Malaysia’s Ministry of Transport (MoT) is intensifying efforts to expedite the opening of the Light Rail Transit Line 3 (LRT3), which will connect Shah Alam with surrounding areas in the Klang Valley. Transport Minister Loke Siew Fook said ongoing train testing is being carried out to ensure operational and safety readiness, with the government prioritising the line’s commissioning to help ease road congestion and expand public transport options.
The LRT3, also known as the Shah Alam Line, is designed to improve connectivity between Bandar Utama and Johan Setia, serving key growth corridors in Selangor. The project forms part of the Klang Valley’s broader rail network integration strategy, linking with existing LRT, MRT and KTM services to provide multimodal interchange options. Authorities are focusing on system integration, rolling stock testing and final operational preparations ahead of service launch.
