Malaysia’s Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation has approved 13 large-scale solar projects with a combined capacity of 1,975 MW. The approvals come under the government’s program to accelerate renewable energy adoption and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
The projects will be developed by independent power producers through competitive bidding, with long-term power purchase agreements expected to follow. These developments are part of the government’s roadmap to reach a 70 per cent renewable energy share in the power mix by 2050.
The initiative will support Malaysia’s clean energy transition, attract private sector investment, and strengthen the country’s position as a regional leader in solar deployment.
