Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) has decided to impose liquidated ascertained damages (LAD) on the contractors of Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2) for delays in construction leading to its failure to meet its deadline of June 28, 2013. The airport operator has been facing severe criticism over several delays in the completion of the KLIA2 project. The project was tendered out in 2009 with an expected completion date of September 2011; however, the completion date was revised several times due to amendments to the original plan. Among the parties awarded the various contracts for the project are Gadang Holdings Berhad, WCT Berhad, KUB Berhad, Bina Puri Berhad, and the UEM Group.
