Lufthansa Technik Philippines (LTP), an aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) service provider, has resumed the construction of a USD40 million hangar project in the Philippines. Construction of Hangar1A and the auxiliary buildings were delayed by a year due to COVID-19 related restrictions in the country. The works on the new facility, which will be located within Ninoy Aquino International Airport’s special economic zone (SEZ), are scheduled to be completed in February 2022, delayed from the initial completion date in September 2020. Commercial operations are scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2022 and the hanger is expected to increase LTP’s capacity by 25 per cent.

Construction on the hangar was resumed after air travel restrictions has been eased in the Philippines. Hangar 1A is LTP’s fourth hangar and will perform base and line maintenance on a variety of commercial aircraft, including Airbus A320, A330, A350, A380, and B777.
