The Luang Prabang International Airport has been completed at a cost of 659.14 billion kip. It can now handle aircraft such as Boeing 737 and Airbus A320. Construction work, which started in 2010, was undertaken by China CAMC Engineering Company Limited and completed in a record 37 months. The scope of work included the construction of a parking apron that could handle four medium-sized aircraft and other smaller planes; a new passenger building covering an area of 9,800 square metres; and the extension of the runway to a length of 2,900 metres and a width of 45 metres.
