Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) has commenced commercial operations on the Tuas West Extension of the East-West Line. The extension spans 7.5 km from Joo Koon to Tuas Link, covering four stations. The average daily ridership is expected to be 100,000 passengers. Thales has deployed a SelTrac communications-based train control system under a Euro 24 million contract secured in 2012. A 26 hectare maintenance depot has been constructed near the Gul Circle station, which can accommodate up to 60 trains (including 13 additional trains procured for the extension).
